RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION (R+D+I) In their efforts focusing on innovation and continuing research, both Sidercal, S.A. at first, and the current Sidercal Minerales, S.A. have seen their R+D+I projects funded by the Ministry of Industry, now the Ministry of Science and Technology, within the framework of the different programs offered by the Administration to foment R+D+I in Spanish companies (PATI, Iniciativa ATYCA and PROFIT). The company has also been rewarded for its efforts in this field with aid from the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI). In 1995 the company was awarded the prize "Mieres del Camino a la Innovación Empresarial"(“The Mieres Prize of the Road to Business Innovation”) currently the "Premios a la Innovación Empresarial en Asturias" (“The Awards for Business Innovation in Asturias”) in the area of Applied Research for the project entitled "A new range of additives for metallurgic processes in electric Furnaces”. This award is given annually by the Regional Institute for Devlopment of Asturias. In 1996, the company was chosen to participate in the "Premio al Emprendedor del Año" (The Entrepreneur of the Year Award”) which is given jointly by the Financial Journal “Cinco Días” and the company Ernst & Young. The company was a finalist in the regional competition of Asturias, Galicia and León. |
